Timo Lehtonen is of mixed Nigerian and Finnish birth, having lived in both countries before moving to the United Kingdom in the early 1960s. He trained at the Royal College of Art where he also undertook the Printmaking Fellowship in 1987. He lives and works in London. In 1994 he was Artist in Residence at the Museum of London and in 2001 he won the Printmaking Today Award. His work is held in public and private collections including the Museum of London and the Victoria and Albert Museum. He is Senior Lecturer in Fine Art Printmaking at the University of Brighton.
