Educated at the Blackpool, Camberwell, and Slade Schools of Art. He Studied Printmaking at Camberwell with Agathe Sorel and Frank Tinsley and at the Slade with Peter Daglish and Stanley Jones. Former Artistic Director of the Curwen Print Study Centre in Cambridge and former visiting Professor of Fine Art at the Long Island University in New York. Currently he is the Head of Fine Art Printmaking at the Winchester School of Art.

Awarded a Pollock Krasner grant in New York in 2002.

He has represented the UK in the Senefelder (Germany) 2002, and the Tallin Triennial (Estonia) 2004. Krakow Triennial (Poland) 2006.

Elected ARE (the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers) in 2006, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2002.

His last one person exhibition was at Lawrence Graham on the Strand, London in 2006.

He is a regular international conference speaker.
